Wilderness Trekking from Thimphu to Bumthang The best places to find good flowering ground for blue poppy (Bhutan’s national flower), buttercup and other various high altitude flowers are in the area of Gangkhar Puensum region. This is the best trek for blue poppy and buttercup exploration where very few trekkers have tread. June and July are the main months when the flowers are in full bloom. An additional highlight to this trek is the spectacular view of Gangkhar Puensum Mountain (7541m or 24,885 ft), the highest mountain in Bhutan and also the beautiful view of the Moenlakarchung range in Bhutan's eastern Himalayas.
